Scottish Success

22/12/2017 Scotland is an important and growing market for Kilen. Kilen’s market-leading range of coil springs is now available from Highland Motor Parts Ltd.  With a fleet of thirty vehicles Highland Motor Parts provide daily deliveries across much of the Highlands, and the company now stocks Kilen’s top 300 coil springs at its new depot in Elgin, offering extensive car parc coverage direct from the shelf.

Peter Dancer, Kilen Springs Business Development Manager, said: “We are delighted to have secured business with Highland Motor Parts, allowing us to extend the Kilen offering in Scotland, and we look forward to working with them for many years to come.”

As winter intensifies, creating ideal conditions for broken coil springs, garages across northern Scotland will benefit from access to Kilen product: Whilst cold temperatures affect the tensile strength of springs, making them brittle and increasing the likelihood of breakage, water trapped under road surfaces freezes and expands, creating a void between the tarmac and the foundation.

As the ice thaws, road traffic causes the tarmac to collapse into the void, creating a fresh pothole. The breakage recipe is then complete as grit salt spread on the roads mixes with surface water to form an abrasive paste grinding the protective paint off springs.

Kilen springs, produced in Sweden, are designed to withstand the harshest conditions of a Scandinavian winter. Each Kilen coil spring is made from the highest quality, specialist spring-steel, and protected from corrosion using the galvanic protection method of zinc phosphating, before being powder-coated with epoxy resin to provide additional protection.
