Kilen launch 2015 coil springs catalogue

27/03/2015 Kilen have recently launched their 2015 coil springs catalogue. The new catalogue features over 400 new parts, many of which are not available from any competitor in the aftermarket! To provide a choice for installers, the 2015 Kilen coil springs catalogue incorporates a range of 86 tapered wire alternatives to sit alongside their existing parallel wire designs.

Whilst the vast majority of OE coil springs are made from parallel spring wire, which maintains a constant thickness throughout the length of the spring, a small number of OE producers employ tapered wire springs on a limited and declining number of applications in order to achieve a slight weight saving.

Kilen parallel wire designs match the spring rate and vehicle-handling characteristics of the original tapered wire spring, and provide the additional benefit of lower stress levels at critical points within the spring, making premature failure less likely. Some installers prefer to fit identical-looking replacements however, and Kilen are happy to offer a choice: parallel wire for durability with a 3-year warranty or tapered wire for the OE look with a 2-year warranty.
